Sam Shaw

**Meet Sam Shaw: Hagerty Radical Cup UK’s Newest Talent**

Born on February 25, 2005, Sam Shaw’s journey in motorsports began at the tender age of six at Buckmore Park, where he dived into the world of Bambino karts. His early passion for racing was evident as he competed in numerous club events at Bayford, swiftly climbing the ranks from local club competitions to the prestigious circuits of British karting.

By age 11, Sam was competing at the national level in the Junior X30 series. He made an impressive debut and finished ninth in his first year. In his second season, Sam moved under the guidance of Micky Higham— a key figure in nurturing talents like Lando Norris — and Sam flourished. His knack for speed and strategy quickly translated into tangible success, as he claimed podium finishes in the Junior X30 Euro Series and Kart Masters.

In 2019, Sam was chosen to represent Team GB in the inaugural motorsport games in Rome. It was a great experience that remains a career highlight.

Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic in his second year of Junior X30, Sam demonstrated resilience and skill, securing multiple podiums and finishing seventh overall in a tightly contested season. His upward trajectory continued with a stellar third year, capturing four podiums and his first win, which underscored his potential as a rising star in kart racing.

Transitioning to senior karting at 16, Sam showed no signs of slowing down. He clinched a victory and two podiums in the British Championship, and although an on-track incident at the final race affected his standings, he finished a commendable 5th in the European rounds and 6th at the World Championships in Portimao.

2024 marks a significant milestone for Sam, as he makes his car racing debut in the Hagerty Radical Cup UK. Racing under his preferred number 16 — a nod to his karting roots — Sam is poised to bring his A-game to the racetrack, with the support of Nile Trading & More4 Business and K Lawrence Builders.

Off the track, Sam’s life continues to revolve around racing. He dedicates time to coaching aspiring drivers, engaging in sim testing to sharpen his skills, and he enjoys playing football to stay fit and focused.

As Sam Shaw gears up for his first season in the Radical Cup, his journey from a young karting enthusiast to a professional car racer is one to watch. Join us in cheering on Sam as he speeds towards his new chapter in motorsport.
